Hello My Name Is...
Mrs. Ahern,
Middle School Counselor

During these unprecedented times, it's important to remember that distance learning is a new experience for both teachers and parents. While we often can't control events around us, we can learn ways to better manage the challenges involving your child's new learning environment. As a licensed mental health professional, I address students' needs through the implementation of a comprehensive, standards-based school counseling program. My goals include differentiating student needs by paying attention to age-specific and developmental stages of student growth.
I work with all students, including those who are considered at-risk and those with special needs. As your child's school counselor, I will provide assistance through four primary interventions:
1. Counseling (individual and group)
2. Large group/classroom presentations
3. Consultation
4. Coordination
Parents can reach out to me throughout the district's virtual schooling period regarding your child's mental health needs. Communication options, as well as virtual school counseling sessions, can be set up by contacting me at ahernk@dunmoreschooldistrict.net.
